Children’s Sunday School

There is hardly a more important ministry that the church can engage in than instilling Christian truths and practices in the next generation of believers. This is a responsibility that we at Calvary Baptist Church take very seriously.

 

The importance of passing religious values and truths on to our children is seen especially in the early stages of the Old Testament (for example, see Exodus 12:26-27; Deuteronomy 4:10; Joshua 4:21-24). It was essential for the ancient Israelites to inculcate subsequent generations with their traditions and their knowledge of God.

 

Today, the struggle to teach our children the ways of the Lord is a battle for the minds of our young ones. This battle is a war against secular philosophies in the schools, worldly media on the TV and radio, and the carnal influence of unbelieving peers. We believe that the only way to win this war is by the Spirit of God working on the hearts of kids through the Word of God which we teach to them with conviction, commitment and creativity. It is our privilege to instill the next generation of Christ with the truths and values that have become so important to us as adults.

 

Calvary Baptist Church has Sunday School classes for children of all ages up through the turbulent teen years. These meet during Bible Hour from 9:15 – 10:15 every Sunday morning. In Sunday School, our children can learn and grow in a safe and nurturing environment.

Our children are the legacy we leave to a corrupt and dying world. And thus, training them from the beginning to become fully functioning followers of Christ is one of the most significant enterprises and responsibilities that we have.

Summer Sunday School Classes

 

Nursery:  Nursery care is provided for infants through 2 year olds.  (Nursery care is also available during the worship service.  During the worship service the nursery is divided between babies and toddlers.  The toddlers (18 months—2 years) are in the adjoining room where they are taught a Bible story by Sally Hunnicutt.)

 

3 year olds through 6th graders begin the  Sundays School hour singing songs together in the large room in the basement.  They are then dismissed to their individual classes.

 

3 year olds through 1st grade: This class is held in room #5 in the basement.  Lois Fromm is the teacher this Summer.  (For the morning worship service, the Kindergarten and 1st graders are dismissed to sit with their parents during the song service, while the younger children are moved to room #7 for the Children’s Church class in that room.)

 

2nd –6th grade:  This class is held in room # 10 in the basement.  Sarah Presley is the teacher for this Summer.
